Milei suggests ex-advisor's girlfriend attack was political operation

President Javier Milei has publicly addressed the case of Fernando Cerimedo, his former advisor, who was arrested and accused of an attempted murder on his girlfriend, Nadia Beller. Milei stated he has had no connection with Cerimedo since 2023 and alleged a media operation involving former libertarian deputy Marcela Pagano, her partner Franco Bindi, and "castrochavismo."

Milei reiterated his belief that Brazilian President Lula da Silva was involved in a "operation" to spread misinformation about Argentina, a claim he also made in a speech at the Rosario Stock Exchange, attributing it to a "journalism student working for Lula."

Cerimedo was detained and placed in preventive custody after two men allegedly shot his girlfriend. Milei had previously retweeted messages suggesting the attack was a political "operation." The "political operation" narrative aligns with Cerimedo's defense strategy, as his lawyer claimed the attack was a "show" with no evidence of actual gunshots, suggesting a "self-inflicted attack."

Milei also commented on the case of former deputy José Luis Espert, who is under investigation for alleged money laundering. Milei described Espert as a "iron soldier" who was subjected to a "sinister operation" and forced to step aside. He expressed hope that Espert could clear his name from the "lies" he was subjected to from within politics.
