The Korean Military Academy Alumni Association has vehemently protested remarks made by President Lee Jae-myung regarding the academy during a recent administrative briefing. The association declared that the president's comments exposed the "true intention" behind potential mergers or closures of military academies.

During a joint administrative report to the President at the Blue House, which included the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Unification, Ministry of National Defense, and Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, President Lee referred to the Korean Military Academy as a "center for three military coups." He questioned the continued dominance of its graduates in high-ranking military positions, stating, "It's been three times that they've staged military coups and completely destroyed the constitutional order, yet they still hold an overwhelming position.
