Military Academy and University Forge Strategic Alliance for Dual Degrees

The Republic of China Military Academy (ROCMAC) has partnered with National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) through a strategic alliance, aiming to cultivate the next generation of military talent. This collaboration will enable students from both institutions to enroll in cross-listed courses, with the potential to earn dual bachelor's degrees upon completion of their studies.

The agreement, facilitated by Shih Chen-jung, chairman of the T.I.P. Foundation, was signed by ROCMAC Superintendent Tan Fang-rong and NYCU President Lin Chi-hung. The partnership focuses on key areas of advanced defense technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), unmanned systems (UAS), big data analysis, cybersecurity, and intelligent control. Through cross-campus course selection, joint research projects, faculty exchanges, and specialized lectures, the alliance seeks to deepen the integration of top-tier academic resources with defense applications.

ROCMAC emphasizes the evolving nature of modern warfare, characterized by increasing "intelligence, digitalization, and unmanned operations." Consequently, future military leaders require not only robust combat expertise but also cross-disciplinary technological capabilities and innovative thinking. This alliance is designed to equip ROCMAC cadets with these essential skills, enhancing their competitiveness and future career prospects.

The dual-degree system is a significant component of the partnership. Students who meet the academic standards will be able to obtain bachelor's degrees from both ROCMAC and NYCU. This initiative aims to break down traditional barriers between military and civilian higher education, fostering a new breed of military professionals who possess both modern tactical understanding and system integration abilities, thereby contributing to the development of intelligent defense for the nation.
