Military Region 7 organizes transfer of fallen soldiers' remains for DNA identification

Vietnam's Military Region 7 is coordinating the transport and handover of fallen soldiers' remains samples for DNA testing as part of efforts to confirm their identities.

The region held a conference chaired by Deputy Political Commissar Major General Trần Chí Tâm. Participants discussed coordination among agencies and units, including responsibilities, personnel, deadlines, receiving and handover locations, transport vehicles, security and responses to problems that might arise during the operation.

In his concluding remarks, Trần Chí Tâm called the mission politically significant. He said it reflected the responsibility, care and gratitude of the Party, state and military toward soldiers who died for the country's independence and freedom and for the people's well-being.

He instructed the units to prepare detailed plans and ensure that each stage of the process is conducted solemnly and in line with regulations. Officials were also told to secure transport, logistical and technical support, with particular attention to airports and receiving and handover sites.

The conference also emphasized communications and education for personnel. The military said public messaging should highlight the humanitarian meaning of finding and identifying fallen soldiers, while reinforcing revolutionary traditions, patriotism and national pride.
