Military Wades Through 1km of Floodwaters to Deliver Aid to Stranded Residents in Taiwan

Torrential rains have devastated southern Taiwan, causing widespread flooding and cutting off access to many areas. In Pingtung County, where floodwaters reached waist-deep, military personnel undertook a challenging mission. Soldiers bravely waded through approximately 1 kilometer of rushing water to deliver vital supplies, including drinking water and dry food, to residents trapped in their homes. This critical intervention averted a potential food shortage for those isolated by the deluge. The images of soldiers navigating the treacherous conditions highlighted the severity of the disaster and the dedication of the armed forces. Residents, upon receiving the much-needed provisions, were overcome with emotion. Many expressed profound thanks to the soldiers, with one elder tearfully grasping a soldier's hand and exclaiming, "You've worked hard, thank you so much!" These moments underscored the deep appreciation for the military's support during the crisis. The Fourth Sector Command emphasized its commitment to disaster response, maintaining close contact with local governments to aid in relief and recovery efforts, aiming to help affected areas return to normalcy as swiftly as possible.
