Milivojević: New Parliamentary Group Does Not Erase Anyone’s Record

Srđan Milivojević drew a clear line around a new parliamentary group supporting Serbia’s student movement: joining it does not cleanse anyone’s political record or create a new alliance.

The Democratic Party leader said the group, called “MPs With Students: For Election Control,” has a single, narrowly defined purpose. It aims to turn existing parliamentary mandates into more people who can monitor polling stations and protect voters’ electoral choices.

Milivojević said Albijanić was elected as a candidate of Healthy Serbia on Aleksandar Vučić’s list. In April 2025, he publicly backed the students, left Vučić’s parliamentary majority and resigned as deputy leader of Healthy Serbia. He has since served as an independent MP.

Albijanić was elected as a candidate of Healthy Serbia on Vučić’s list, and no one is hiding that fact.

His mandate, Milivojević said, brings the student list about 200 election monitors, but gives Albijanić no privilege. Albijanić has not joined the DS and is not becoming one of its officials, candidates or coalition partners. The group also does not involve reciprocal favors, a shared program or coordinated ideological positions.

The DS will remain outside the work of parliament, Milivojević said, while giving the student list any seats the group receives on permanent polling-board committees. He cited a direct numerical effect: eight MPs previously brought 1,392 seats, while 16 MPs would bring 2,784. Each additional mandate adds roughly 200 monitors.
