Serbian parliament votes on 59 agenda items, including budget revision

Serbia’s parliament is holding a day of voting on 59 agenda items, with the proposed revision of this year’s budget first on the list. Voting began at 10 a.m.

Deputies are also considering financial legislation and measures aimed at easing the effects of the energy crisis and rising living costs. Other proposals cover the judiciary, corruption prevention, electronic administration, media and property registration.

The agenda includes Serbia’s proposed 2025 budget final account and borrowing to finance infrastructure projects. Those projects include the Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad motorway, several expressways and the Serbia-Hungary oil pipeline.

Lawmakers are voting as well on international agreements with Angola, Algeria and Azerbaijan, a Council of Europe Development Bank loan to renovate health centres, and reports from several state institutions for 2025. Ruling-coalition deputies said during debate that they would support the proposed legislation, while opposition lawmakers criticized it.

The extraordinary session began on August 24 after Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić convened it at the request of 109 lawmakers.
