Milo Yiannopoulos deported from US to UK

British right-wing commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported from the United States, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Yiannopoulos, 41, a former editor at Breitbart News and onetime political aide to Kanye West, was sent back to his home country on Friday. A DHS spokesperson described him as an "illegal alien from the United Kingdom" who had "chosen to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation's laws." He was arrested on August 27 after arriving at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, having entered the U.S. in May 2019.

The self-styled provocateur, who has called himself the "most fabulous supervillain on the internet," has advocated for stricter U.S. immigration controls, ironically given his current situation. His critics often label him a purveyor of hate speech. Yiannopoulos has previously expressed support for ICE raids, calling for "total legal immunity for ICE agents when they're on duty" and advocating on social media in 2025 for the deportation of "millions and millions of people." He also pushed for "on the spot deportation for anyone who can't prove they are in the US legally."

Yiannopoulos, who grew up in Kent, England, has courted controversy with his remarks on transgender people, Muslims, Black Lives Matter, and feminists. He identifies as gay but now calls himself an "ex-gay." He was an early supporter of Donald Trump in 2016 and later assisted Kanye West in his presidential bid. He also worked for former Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. Far-right commentator Laura Loomer claimed credit for Yiannopoulos's arrest, stating on X that he "is already out of the United States and DHS tells me he's NEVER allowed to come back to the United States ever again."

This is not the first time Yiannopoulos has faced controversy in the U.S. In 2017, he was disinvited from speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) after footage emerged that appeared to show him condoning pedophilia. He later apologized and resigned from Breitbart News, denying the allegations and stating he was speaking about his own childhood experiences. He was once frequently associated with the alt-right movement.
