Minibus crash involving Dinamo youth team kills one, injures 13

A serious road accident involving a minibus carrying 14 individuals, including members of the CS Dinamo București football team's second squad, occurred in Argeș County, Romania. The vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree near Câmpulung Muscel, triggering a Red Alert response from emergency services.

The crash tragically claimed the life of team masseur Constantin Covaciu. Several others were injured, with coach Adrian Ropotan sustaining an open hand fracture but reported to be out of danger. In total, 13 individuals were transported to the hospital following the incident.

We observed that something was wrong. The driver kept accelerating. After we saw that he was accelerating excessively, we tried to tell him to take it easy, both we and the staff, but he didn't respond.

Preliminary investigations by the Câmpulung Traffic Police indicate that the minibus was descending a slope when it left the roadway. Authorities are examining the transport company's documentation and verifying if the 83-year-old driver met the legal requirements for transporting passengers. The circumstances leading to the accident are still under investigation.

Some of the young athletes on board recounted their distress during the journey. They claimed to have noticed the driver accelerating excessively and attempted to ask him to slow down, but received no response. One player described the bus swaying and hitting an embankment before crashing into the tree, with seats breaking and falling onto passengers. Panic ensued as they scrambled to escape through the windows.

The bus kept swaying. I think he was going over 50-60 km/h. First, it hit that mound, and then it stopped in the tree. We were all panicked. We were scared. The seats were on top of some of my colleagues. The seats broke, the side windows shattered. We tried to get out as quickly as possible. I jumped over a colleague's seat and got out through the window.
