Minister Criticizes EU Migration Pact, Citing Security Concerns

Lithuania's Interior Minister, Martynas Katelynas, has voiced strong criticism of the European Union's migration pact, arguing that it unduly restricts the operations of border services. He asserted that the pact's stipulations should not compromise the security of member states.

Katelynas expressed his view that the pact requires future review, contingent upon the evolving security landscape. He acknowledged the challenges Lithuania will face in attempting to alter the pact, particularly during its upcoming six-month presidency of the EU Council. Lithuania's strategy, he indicated, will involve an initial assessment of the situation followed by efforts to propose modifications to partners.
