Minister Göktaş: September payments for older and disabled people are entering accounts

Turkey has begun transferring September allowances to older people and people with disabilities, Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş said in a written statement.

The payments total 9.3 billion lira. The ministry is depositing 5.3 billion lira in older-person allowances and 4 billion lira in disability allowances into the accounts of eligible recipients.

Göktaş said the government works to support the full participation of older and disabled people in every area of life and to help them live independently. She said the ministry provides support in education, health, the economy and social life through people-centered, rights-based policies.

She added that the government continues to develop inclusive and regular social assistance programs for older citizens and people with disabilities.
