Minister Quintin rejects ‘hybrid threat’ label for Leipzig drone incident: ‘That was an attack, full stop’

Bernard Quintin does not want the Leipzig drone incident softened into the language of a “hybrid threat.” For Belgium’s interior minister, it was an attack, plain and simple.

“That was an attack, full stop,” Quintin said on VRT’s De Afspraak op Vrijdag. He added: “We are in a kind of war.”

Quintin said there are no concrete indications of a similar attack in Belgium. The comments nevertheless place the Leipzig incident in a wider security context, with the minister insisting that the event should be described directly rather than through a more ambiguous label.
