Ministry requests additional budget of 1.84 trillion for 2027 Hajj preparations

Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs and Umrah is seeking a substantial budget increase of 1.84 trillion rupiah (approximately $113 million USD) to adequately prepare for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage. The request, submitted as part of the draft state budget for 2027, aims to cover essential preparations that were not factored into the initial budget allocation.

Minister of Religious Affairs and Umrah, Moch Irfan Yusuf, explained that the additional funds are crucial because several components of the Hajj preparations were not included in the previously set budget ceiling for 2027. "There is a budget adjustment, around 1.8 trillion [rupiah]. Because Hajj preparations were not budgeted in the 2027 budget ceiling. So we are proposing an additional 1.8 trillion for Hajj preparations," Yusuf stated.

The supplementary budget will be allocated to various needs for the Hajj pilgrimage, encompassing both domestic arrangements in Indonesia and activities in Saudi Arabia. A significant portion will be dedicated to enhancing the human resources and organizational structure of the Ministry of Haji and Umrah. As a newly established entity, the ministry requires additional personnel and capacity building for its officials to effectively manage and deliver optimal services for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
