Minor earthquake shakes southern Spain, no damage reported

A shallow earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 was felt in Granada, Spain, and its province on Sunday afternoon, according to the National Geographic Institute (IGN). The tremor occurred at 3:39 PM local time, with its epicenter located in the town of Armilla, near the provincial capital.

While the earthquake was felt by residents, emergency services reported no personal injuries or material damage. The coordination center received 44 calls from about ten towns in the Granada region reporting the tremor. The IGN later revised the magnitude slightly from an initial report of 3.7 and adjusted the epicenter location from Ogíjares to Armilla.

Following the main quake, two smaller aftershocks were registered. A tremor measuring 1.7 magnitude, also with its epicenter in Armilla, occurred seven minutes later at a depth of six kilometers. Another shallow quake of magnitude 2, centered in Alhendín, was felt at 4:11 PM.

Earlier on Sunday, two other seismic events with magnitudes of 1.6 were recorded in the same province, with epicenters in Loja.
