Minsa announces surgical campaign in Ucayali region to address waiting lists

Peru's Ministry of Health (Minsa) is launching a surgical campaign to address a backlog of patients requiring operations. From July 13 to July 18, the Pucallpa Regional Hospital in the Ucayali region will host the initiative, aiming to significantly reduce the waiting list for surgical procedures.

This campaign is part of Minsa's "Salud en Acción" strategy, utilizing the Minsa Móvil program to bring specialized medical care closer to the population. The goal is to perform between 35 and 40 general surgeries on patients who have been previously evaluated and are awaiting treatment. The focus will be on individuals aged 18 to 60 diagnosed with conditions such as inguinal, umbilical, and incisional hernias, as well as other pathologies requiring timely intervention.

A multidisciplinary team, including general surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and support staff from Minsa Móvil, will work alongside the Pucallpa Regional Hospital's professionals. This collaboration is designed to ensure that the procedures are conducted safely and meet high-quality standards. The strategy aims to enhance the capacity of healthcare facilities and improve the quality of life for patients whose surgeries have been postponed due to various factors.

Minsa Móvil is a key state mechanism for extending healthcare services to remote regions. The ministry plans to continue deploying specialized teams across different parts of the country, bringing complex services, strengthening hospital care, and ultimately improving the well-being of numerous patients. This effort underscores Minsa's commitment to tackling healthcare access challenges and ensuring timely medical treatment for its citizens.
