Mirabela Grădinaru attends Maia Sandu-hosted conference on children’s safety in Chisinau

Mirabela Grădinaru is in Chisinau on Thursday, Sept. 3, for an international conference focused on children’s safety online, mental health and emotional well-being.

The conference, titled “Online Safety and the Digital Determinants of the Mental Health and Emotional Well-being of Children and Adolescents,” is hosted by Moldovan President Maia Sandu. Participants include the European Union’s ambassador to Moldova, Iwona Piorko, as well as representatives of the World Health Organization, the United Nations Population Fund and UNICEF.

Grădinaru, the partner of Romanian President Nicușor Dan, visited Chisinau several days earlier. On Aug. 26, she met a UNICEF delegation led by Edouard Beigbeder, the organization’s regional director for Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Their discussions focused on promoting children’s rights and strengthening the participation of children and young people in decisions that affect their lives. Beigbeder praised Romania’s progress in involving children in decision-making and said young people have the right to be heard on issues that will shape their future.
