Miracle rescue after 36 hours: Daniela Largo pulled alive from collapsed building in Pereira earthquake

A woman has been rescued alive after being trapped for 36 hours under collapsed debris in Pereira, Colombia, following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake. Daniela Largo, 32, was pulled to safety after a grueling 10-hour rescue operation.

The successful extraction was the result of coordinated efforts by the Bogotá Fire Department, PONALSAR, and local fire brigades. This rescue adds a glimmer of hope amidst the ongoing, relentless search and recovery operations underway in multiple cities across the country.

According to Noticias Caracol, rescue teams undertook two separate excavations to reach Largo. During the operation, they provided her with oxygen through a mask and created an opening in the debris above her, navigating through four concrete slabs. Simultaneously, they dug a tunnel from below, through which she was ultimately extracted.

The rescue of Largo is a testament to the dedication of the emergency teams working tirelessly in the aftermath of the earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10.
