Miss Nepal Cosmo 2026 Kashis Subba: From self-doubt to fearless confidence

Kashis Subba, a 21-year-old fashion model and stylist, has been crowned Miss Nepal Cosmo 2026, marking a significant achievement after a journey fueled by self-doubt and rigorous preparation. With four years in Nepal's fashion industry, including titles like ‘Face of Nepal 2023’ and ‘Model of the Year 2025’, Subba now aspires to an international fashion career.

I realised pageants are evolving. It is not only about speaking anymore; your performance and stage presence also matter. It gave me a vision that I could also do this, that I could create impactful change for my country and community through this platform.

Subba hopes to leverage her platform to inspire young individuals to pursue their aspirations fearlessly and realize their full potential. She shared that growing up, she admired pageants but never saw herself as a contestant, believing strong speaking skills were paramount. This perception shifted when she discovered Miss Cosmo, realizing the evolving nature of pageants that now value performance and stage presence alongside communication.

Despite her modeling experience, including representing Nepal in Korea at 18, Subba grappled with self-doubt, feeling too young and lacking the extensive academic or professional background of other contestants. Her mentor's encouragement, emphasizing personal growth and the potential for real impact, convinced her to audition.

Even so, I doubted myself. I'm only 21, without the strong academic or professional portfolio a lot of pageant contestants have. But this year, my mentor pushed me to join Miss Nepal.

The preparation was intense, with Subba sleeping only three to four hours a night for 50 days. Her mentors pushed her, reframing moments of doubt into a winning mindset. She focused on transforming weaknesses into strengths, aiming for personal growth regardless of the outcome, and managed stress by incorporating fun and camaraderie into her training.

I told myself that even if I did not win, working on my weaknesses and turning them into strengths would matter for my life regardless of the outcome.

Upon winning, Subba felt a sense of calm and confidence, mentally thanking her supporters and thinking of her late grandmother. She described the moment her name was announced as a release, breaking down in tears, viewing the experience as a destined chapter for growth.

That day, oddly, I felt calm and confident rather than nervous. I kept thinking, whatever happens, I was brought here to grow; this is a chapter of my destiny. When they said my name, I broke down crying.
