Missing South Korean Man Found Dead in Stream After Torrential Rain

A 67-year-old man who disappeared while working at a blueberry greenhouse in Gochang was found dead in a nearby stream the following morning.

The man disappeared while working with his family at the greenhouse. His son reported him missing at 3:38 p.m. after briefly leaving him. Police and firefighters searched around the greenhouse and nearby waterways before a Gochang County official found him in the Galgokcheon stream at 6:50 a.m. The location was about 70 meters from the greenhouse.

Gochang received torrential rain the previous day, including as much as 60 millimeters in one hour and 187.5 millimeters over the course of the day. Police were investigating the exact circumstances of the death.

Authorities were also searching for a 73-year-old man who left home in nearby Jeongeup after telling his family he would visit a rice field. He later lost contact with them, and police and firefighters were tracing his movements.
