Mitsubishi previews Taiwan launch of new Outlander with mild hybrid power and four-wheel drive

Mitsubishi Motors Taiwan has released a promotional video previewing the arrival of the new-generation Outlander, a model the company says will enter Taiwan as a fully imported vehicle from Japan. The launch is planned for September, but Mitsubishi has not yet given a precise date.

Taiwan will receive a facelifted version of the fourth-generation Outlander. The updates include a revised grille and redesigned front and rear bumpers, along with new 20-inch geometric alloy wheels intended to give the SUV a sharper appearance.

The cabin is set to receive a more technology-focused treatment. Features disclosed in earlier company information include a head-up display, a fully digital instrument panel, a central screen and a surround-view camera system. The model will also offer premium leather upholstery, ventilated and massage seats, and a Yamaha cabin sound system.

Power will come from a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with 48V mild-hybrid technology. The setup is rated at 174 horsepower and 28.5 kilogram-metres of peak torque. S-AWC intelligent four-wheel drive will be standard, with six selectable driving modes. Mitsubishi is presenting the package as an effort to strengthen the Outlander's position in Taiwan's midsize SUV market while drawing on the brand's Dakar Rally four-wheel-drive heritage.
