Taiwan Subaru dealer teases mystery car, but automaker says no new model is planned

A black-covered Subaru prompted speculation among Taiwanese car enthusiasts after a dealer posted a teaser promising that the vehicle would be revealed in September.

The outline showed a sharp front, a long body and a sloping rear, leading to suggestions that the mystery model could be a WRX Wagon. The teaser also hinted at a familiar model with possible blacked-out styling and included a test-drive activity.

Closer inspection left room for doubt. The vehicle appeared lower than an SUV, with a flat roof and a five-door-style rear. But the tail-light design, more pronounced rear shape and the lack of an intake recess on the bonnet made its identity less clear.

After being asked about the teaser, Subaru’s Taiwanese importer, Imp Auto, said it had no new-car launch scheduled. The event was organised independently by the dealer as a showroom activity, meaning the car beneath the cover did not represent an actual new model in Taiwan.
