MLB: Taiwanese Cheng Tsung-cheh Benched as Red Sox Suffer One-Hit Shutout Loss

The Boston Red Sox offense struggled mightily on Friday, managing only a single hit in a 6-0 shutout loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Adding to the team's woes, Taiwanese infielder Cheng Tsung-cheh was an unused substitute for the third game in a row.

The Red Sox's lone hit came in the bottom of the sixth inning when starting shortstop Andruw Monasterio doubled. However, the team failed to capitalize on the opportunity, and no other Red Sox batter reached base safely against Blue Jays ace Dylan Cease for the remainder of the game.

Cease delivered a dominant performance, pitching a complete game nine-inning shutout. He threw 120 pitches, recorded 12 strikeouts, and allowed three walks to earn his seventh win of the season. His ERA now stands at a stellar 2.46.

The Blue Jays' offense provided ample support for Cease, tallying 15 hits. They established an early lead with a five-run outburst in the third inning, effectively sealing the victory. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Ernie Clement each contributed three hits to the offensive onslaught.
