Braden Montgomery earned the win in relief. deGrom, considered one of the league's top pitchers, suffered the loss, his sixth of the season, after giving up five runs in 4.2 innings. The defeat dropped the Rangers' record to 50-50, allowing the Seattle Mariners, who shut out the Cincinnati Reds, to claim the top spot in the AL West.
