MLS: Messi returns as Inter Miami draw 2-2 against Columbus Crew

Lionel Messi made his return to Major League Soccer on Saturday, appearing in the second half as his Inter Miami side played to a 2-2 draw against the Columbus Crew. Despite Messi's presence, he was unable to find the back of the net, shooting wide on two occasions. Inter Miami had taken the lead in the 16th minute through Luis Suarez, who continued his impressive scoring form with his seventh goal in his last four matches. However, an own goal by Miami's midfielder Casemiro in the 34th minute leveled the score for Columbus.

Miami regained the lead just before halftime when Suarez assisted Noah Allen for a header. The match seemed to be heading towards another victory for Miami, but Columbus debutant Brais Mendez curled in a stunning free-kick in the 84th minute to secure a 2-2 draw. This result halted Inter Miami's impressive six-match winning streak.

The draw leaves Inter Miami in second place in the Eastern Conference, trailing Nashville. In other MLS action, Los Angeles FC and Vancouver Whitecaps drew 1-1, with Son Heung-min scoring for Los Angeles.
