Modified Americká Street opens as Pilsen's first shared zone

Pilsen, Czech Republic, has reopened the modified upper section of Americká Street to traffic after a three-month closure. The street's transformation introduces a shared zone aimed at integrating pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport.

Public transport services have now resumed their original routes, serving the newly configured street. The area between Škroupova and Prokopova streets is designated as a shared zone. In this zone, the roadway and sidewalks are at the same level, blurring the lines between pedestrian and vehicle areas.

This shared zone operates without any defined priority for traffic participants. Pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport vehicles navigate the space together, requiring increased awareness and caution from all users. The changes aim to create a more integrated and potentially safer urban environment in the city center.
