Moisés Caicedo misses derby as Chelsea fall to Arsenal

Chelsea’s midfield felt the absence of Moisés Caicedo in the London derby, but Arsenal still had to recover from an early setback. Chelsea took the lead after only two minutes when new signing Morgan Rogers scored at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal responded through Kai Havertz, who equalized in the 25th minute. Martin Odegaard then scored in the 50th minute to complete the turnaround and give the home side a 2-1 victory.

Caicedo missed the match because of physical discomfort that has affected him since the start of the season. He was not called up and did not even make the substitutes’ bench. The Ecuadorian midfielder had also missed Chelsea’s first two league matches before returning against Brighton, where he played 12 minutes and left with discomfort in his right leg.

Piero Hincapié provided Ecuador’s representation for Arsenal. The defender began on the bench and replaced Riccardo Calafiori in the 67th minute, continuing as an alternative under manager Mikel Arteta.

The victory kept Arsenal unbeaten and gave the club three wins from three league matches. Arsenal has nine points and sits second on goal difference behind Manchester City, while Chelsea remains on six points in fourth. Mick Jagger, an Arsenal supporter since his school days, watched the derby from the Emirates stands.
