Moldova Highway project progresses, connecting regions

The Moldova Highway (A7) project is making significant strides, with PSD President Sorin Grindeanu commending the progress on this vital infrastructure undertaking. Grindeanu emphasized that the highway exemplifies Romania's concrete development and commitment to completing key projects.

This major high-speed road is designed to be a crucial link, connecting the Moldova region in the northeast with the capital, Bucharest, and integrating it into the broader national highway network. The A7 will reroute heavy and transit traffic away from DN2, a road notorious for its danger, thereby improving safety for communities along the route.

The planned route for the A7 stretches from Dumbrava in Prahova County, connecting with the A3, and continues through Mizil, Buzău, Râmnicu Sărat, Focșani, Adjud, Bacău, Roman, and Pașcani, ultimately reaching Suceava and Siret at the Ukrainian border. Currently, nearly half of the Ploiești–Siret route is accessible to traffic.

Further progress is anticipated in 2026, with the opening of approximately 123 additional kilometers. These include the remaining sections between Focșani and Bacău, as well as the entire Bacău–Pașcani stretch. Upon completion of these segments, continuous travel on the A7 from Ploiești to Pașcani will be possible, significantly enhancing regional connectivity and facilitating economic activity.
