Moldovan Family of Four Killed in Greek Vacation Crash; Daughter Fights for Life

A family vacation in Greece turned into a devastating tragedy when a car accident in Halkidiki claimed the lives of three Moldovan citizens, including a baby. The sole survivor, a seven-year-old girl, is in critical condition.

The victims, identified as Lucia Sîrbu, 35, her husband Constantin Sîrbu, 28, and their six-month-old daughter, were traveling in a car with Moldovan license plates. The vehicle collided violently with a tanker truck on a provincial road near Metamorfosi. Lucia and her infant daughter died instantly at the scene.

Constantin Sîrbu was critically injured and transported to a hospital in Polygyros, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Their seven-year-old daughter sustained severe wounds and was transferred to a hospital in Thessaloniki for intensive care. Greek emergency services, including firefighters and paramedics, responded to the scene, using specialized equipment to extract the victims from the wreckage.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova confirmed the incident, stating that its embassy in Athens is in constant contact with Greek authorities and the family. Consular assistance is being provided for the repatriation of the victims. The circumstances of the accident are still under investigation by Greek authorities. The driver of the tanker truck was reportedly unharmed.
