Monaco Storms the Parc des Princes to Hand PSG Its First Defeat

Paris Saint-Germain dominated Monaco at the Parc des Princes, took the lead and created the clearer chances. Yet Monaco left with a 2-1 victory, exposing the gap between control and effectiveness in a game that turned sharply against the European champions.

Marquinhos put PSG ahead after half an hour, finishing Kvaratskhelia’s precise cross with his chest. The hosts also threatened through Doué and Kvaratskhelia, while Akliouche hit the crossbar. Monaco survived that early pressure largely because of goalkeeper Hradecky’s interventions.

The visitors then showed ruthless efficiency. Despite recording only 0.04 expected goals compared with PSG’s 1.84 at that stage, Monaco equalized around the hour mark. Nazinho found space at the far post after a defensive lapse and headed in Teze’s pinpoint cross.

Idumbo completed the turnaround in the 72nd minute, firing a left-footed shot from inside the area that surprised goalkeeper Safonov at his near post. Luis Enrique responded with a series of substitutions, sending on Ferran Torres, Ousmane Dembélé, Godts and Dro, but PSG could not recover.

Torres had a goal ruled out for offside, and Hradecky stopped Dembélé’s late effort. The defeat came after PSG had renewed Luis Enrique’s contract through 2030 and extended the deals of several players, making the early setback particularly damaging. Monaco now leads the table by seven points, while PSG has only two points from nine possible.
