Monarchists Join New DSS in Elections, Calling for an “Authentic Right” Against Vučić and EU Membership

Serbia’s Monarchists will enter the upcoming elections alongside New Democratic Party of Serbia, continuing their partnership within the NADA coalition under the banner “Authentic Right.” The decision was made by the political alliance’s main board at a meeting in Oplenac.

The “Authentic Right” is made up of parties and prominent individuals who support removing Aleksandar Vučić’s government and cooperation after the election with other opposition actors on this, as well as maximum cooperation with the European Union, but without Serbia joining the EU.

The group said the list brings together parties and prominent individuals who support removing Aleksandar Vučić’s government and working with other opposition forces after the election. It also backs the closest possible cooperation with the European Union, but rejects Serbian membership in the bloc.

The Monarchists described this as the third consecutive election cycle in which they and New DSS have run together. They said the alliance won about 200,000 votes, or 5%, in each of the previous two parliamentary elections, placing fourth by result.

The main board called on monarchists and supporters of restoring a constitutional parliamentary Kingdom of Serbia to back the “Authentic Right.” The movement said this would guarantee that, after a change of government, Serbia would not continue its policy of European integration, the sale of state resources to foreign companies, or what it described as threats to vital Serbian national interests.
