Monsoon to bring rain across Nepal, heavy rainfall possible in three provinces

Nepal is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, with the monsoon trough positioned near its average latitude, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division. The country is experiencing generally cloudy skies, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall in various parts of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Several other provinces, including Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim, are also receiving rain, as are some areas in Madhesh Province. The forecast indicates that this pattern will continue through the afternoon and into the night, with possibilities of moderate rain or snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, in some Himalayan regions.

Specific attention is drawn to the hilly areas within Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, where moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is expected. There is also a potential for heavy rainfall in one or two locations within these hilly regions. Similar conditions are anticipated in parts of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Authorities are urging citizens in areas susceptible to heavy rainfall to exercise caution. Potential hazards such as debris flows, floods, landslides, and soil erosion are a concern.
