Montenegro Film Rendezvous: Third Edition Gathers Leading Names in European Film Industry

Herceg Novi will host the third annual Montenegro Film Rendezvous from August 22 to 28, transforming the industrial program of the Herceg Novi Film Festival into a week-long hub for European and global film professionals. Organized by the Film Center of Montenegro, the event seeks to foster connections between Montenegrin cinema and the international film community.

The rendezvous will feature masterclasses, workshops, panels, and networking opportunities designed to facilitate the development of new projects, co-productions, and international collaborations. Montenegrin projects in development and post-production will be showcased through pitching sessions and one-on-one meetings with international producers, funds, and festival representatives.

Aleksandra Božović, director of the Film Center of Montenegro, highlighted the event's growth from a three-day meeting to a seven-day program, indicating increased interest. This year introduces collaborations with producers and directors from francophone countries, a workshop specifically for female filmmakers, and the EAVE on Demand workshop. New amendments to the Law on Cinematography, making Montenegro a more competitive destination for international productions, will also be presented.

Distinguished figures from the international film scene will lead sessions. Manuel Alberto Klaro, a renowned European cinematographer, will conduct a masterclass on contemporary film language and visual storytelling. Oscar-winning sound editor Nina Hartstone will discuss the creative process of sound design. Directors Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić, whose documentary "The Mountain" won an award at Sundance, will present a case study on their film's journey.

A dedicated segment, the MEDIA TV Series Programme, will focus on the development of fiction television series and regional co-productions. Panels and masterclasses involving representatives from regional television stations, telecommunication companies, production houses, and European experts will be open to the public, offering insights into the development and future of television content.

Montenegro Film Rendezvous is, in three years, from a three-day industrial meeting to a seven-day program. This is the best indicator of how much interest has grown. In addition to the traditional presentation of new Montenegrin projects, this year for the first time we are opening cooperation with producers and authors from francophone countries. We are also organizing a workshop for female filmmakers, and as a new member of the RE-ACT initiative, we will also host the EAVE on Demand workshop. We will also present new amendments to the Law on Cinematography, which recently came into force and make Montenegro a more competitive destination for international productions, to guests, producers, and film professionals from all over the world.
