Morena Appoints New Secretary of Organization, Strengthens Electoral Commission

Mexico's ruling party, Morena, has appointed Manuel Jesús Zavala Salazar as the acting Secretary of Organization, replacing Andrés Manuel López Beltrán. The party's National Executive Committee (CEN), led by Ariadna Montiel, made the designation as part of a strategy to "strengthen its internal structure with a view to the 2027 electoral process."

Zavala, who was previously the secretary of Social Movements, will now oversee national mobilization, coordinate territorial work, and manage the party's affiliation and membership records. The CEN emphasized the importance of this role in electoral strategy and national outreach.

The Secretariat of Organization leads national mobilization, coordinates and supervises territorial work, as well as electoral strategy, and is responsible for the tasks of affiliation, credentialing, updating, and safeguarding the national membership roster.

Additionally, Zavala and Óscar del Cueto García, the finance secretary, have been integrated into Morena's National Elections Commission. This commission, chaired by Citlalli Hernández Mora, is responsible for proposing election calls, organizing internal electoral processes, analyzing candidate applications, and ensuring parity and affirmative action in candidate selections.

The party reiterated its commitment to the well-being of the Mexican people and its ongoing "Transformation" project, expressing unity among its members. The appointment signals Morena's focus on internal organization and electoral readiness for the upcoming political cycle.
