Morena leader backs Sheinbaum, AMLO, calls for choosing 'homeland or traitors'

Morena party leader Ariadna Montiel Reyes has publicly backed President Claudia Sheinbaum and former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, framing the current political moment as a critical juncture. She asserted that Mexicans must choose between defending the nation and aligning with "traitors."

Montiel Reyes invoked López Obrador's words, stating, "He who does not love his homeland, does not love his mother." She highlighted his administration's efforts to initiate a "regime change" through democratic and peaceful means, demonstrating that corruption could be overcome with popular organization. She credited him with founding "Mexican Humanism" and governing with honesty, redistributing wealth justly.

According to Montiel Reyes, Sheinbaum's presidency signifies the continuation of this national project. She described Sheinbaum's election, which garnered over 36 million votes, as a collective achievement. She emphasized that Sheinbaum's government defends national sovereignty, promotes the well-being of the people, and deepens transformation efforts where needed, refusing to yield to powerful interests.
