Moroccan Authorities Contain Ounine Forest Wildfire After Five Days

After five arduous days, Moroccan authorities have announced the containment of a significant wildfire that erupted in the Ounine forest. The blaze, situated in the Taroudant province bordering the High Atlas region, had been raging for days, posing a considerable challenge to firefighting teams.

Containment of the fire that broke out in the 'Slimet' forest located in the Ounine municipality in the Taroudant province and on the border with the High Atlas province, on its fifth day.

Ismail Ben Omar, the regional director of the National Agency for Water and Forests, provided an update on the situation. While the fire is contained, the focus remains on achieving complete control to prevent any resurgence. The successful containment marks a turning point in the battle against the wildfire, offering hope for the eventual restoration of the affected forest area.
