Morocco remains the leading non-EU supplier of fruit and vegetables to Spain

Morocco held on to its position as the leading supplier of fruit and vegetables to Spain from outside the European Union during the first six months of 2026. The figures point to the growing presence of Moroccan agricultural products in the European market.

Moroccan agricultural products entering the Spanish market reached a value of about €950 million, according to data from the Spanish Federation of Fruit, Vegetable, Flower and Live Plant Producers and Exporters. That represented an increase of roughly 6% compared with the same period a year earlier.

The rise in export value came despite a decline in volume. Spain imported more than 351,000 tonnes of products from Morocco during the period, around 7% less than in the first half of the previous year. The figures suggest that the value of some exported products increased even as the total quantity entering the Spanish market fell.

Across all suppliers, Spain imported about 2.5 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables in the first half of 2026, worth nearly €3 billion. Compared with the first half of 2025, imports increased 6.8% by volume and 4.4% by value.
