Moscow restaurant explosion kills three, injures 21

An improvised explosive device detonated at the Balzi Rossi restaurant in central Moscow on Saturday, killing at least three people and injuring 21 others, according to Russian state media citing local authorities.

The National Anti-Terrorist Committee reported that the explosion occurred at the restaurant located on Kudrinskaya Square. Among the fatalities were the suspected perpetrator, a security guard, and a customer. Initial reports suggest the woman, identified as a delivery person, attempted to bring the explosive device into the establishment, but the guard intervened before it detonated.

Sources indicate the bomb, with a power equivalent to nearly one kilogram of TNT, was remotely detonated. Some independent accounts suggest the explosion happened on the terrace, where a party was reportedly underway, possibly attended by public figures and Duma deputies arriving in official vehicles. The Moscow Investigative Committee stated that the causes of the attack are under investigation.
