Mother and 3-Year-Old Son Die in Diyarbakır Car Crash; Four Others Injured

Diyarbakır, Turkey – A tragic car accident in the Kulp district of Diyarbakır province has claimed the lives of a mother and her young son. Nurşen Çiftçi, 38, and her 3-year-old son, Yağız Efe Çiftçi, died when the car they were traveling in lost control and overturned.

The incident occurred in the rural Hamzalı neighborhood. The vehicle, carrying six family members in total, including Nurşen's husband Fırat Çiftçi (40), another son Alperen Çiftçi (10), Yusuf Mert Çiftçi (13), and an unidentified individual, overturned after the driver lost control. The family was reportedly traveling near Batman's Sason district when the crash happened.

Emergency services, including health, gendarmerie, and fire departments, were dispatched to the scene. Due to the proximity to Batman, four ambulances, a UMKE (National Medical Rescue Team) unit, and a fire brigade team from Batman were also sent to assist. The injured were transported to Sason State Hospital.

Despite medical interventions, Nurşen Çiftçi and her son Yağız Efe succumbed to their injuries. Two other individuals sustained critical injuries, and their condition remains life-threatening. The bodies of the mother and son were sent for autopsy to the Batman Education and Research Hospital. An investigation into the cause of the accident has been initiated.
