Mother and baby killed in Israeli strike on Gaza camp shelters

A mother and her infant daughter died in an Israeli airstrike on a camp for displaced individuals in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The attack on Monday night struck a camp in Al Mawasi, where about 100 people were sheltering.

Diana Mohamad Salem Abu Draz, 23, and her one-year-old daughter, Sawar Thaer Abu Draz, were identified as the victims by a source at Nasser Hospital. Four other individuals sustained injuries from shrapnel that pierced tents. Eight more people are receiving care at the Kuwait Specialized Field Hospital.

Local sources indicated that Israel issued an evacuation order for the area surrounding the camp shortly before fighter jets launched the missile strike, igniting a fire. Civil defense and ambulance teams are still at the scene, and casualty figures may change. This incident occurred amid a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, during which eight people reportedly died in Israeli attacks on Monday alone.
