Mother calls for mandatory e-scooter helmets after crash leaves son with fractured pelvis and memory loss

A Greymouth teenager suffered a fractured pelvis, internal bleeding and memory loss after a ute hit him while he was riding an e-scooter.

His mother, Riana Grobbelaar, says the injuries could have been much worse if he had not been wearing a helmet. She is calling for helmets to become mandatory for e-scooter riders.
