Motorcyclist, 60, dies in crash near Conmebol headquarters

A tragic traffic accident on Avenida Silvio Pettirossi, near the Conmebol headquarters in Luque, claimed the life of a 60-year-old motorcyclist on Saturday night. The victim, identified as Mario Vera Recalde, a resident of Luque's Cuarto Barrio, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services, including volunteer firefighters and paramedics from the SEME, responded swiftly. They worked for approximately 30 minutes to resuscitate Recalde, but their efforts were ultimately in vain. Police confirmed the severity of the situation upon arrival.

According to initial police reports, the accident occurred as Recalde was traveling from Asunción towards Luque. Preliminary investigations suggest he was likely returning home. The collision happened when his motorcycle violently struck the rear of a black Kia Soluto.

The driver of the Kia stated that he only felt a strong impact on the back of his vehicle. He stopped and discovered the motorcyclist lying on the ground. A breathalyzer test administered to the driver returned a negative result for alcohol. The Public Ministry has taken over the investigation.
