Motorcyclist dead after collision in Ontario; driver charged

A fatal head-on collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle claimed the life of a 52-year-old rider in the Township of Muskoka Lakes, Ontario. The incident occurred on Muskoka Road 169, near East Black Lake Road, on Saturday evening.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to the scene shortly after 8:30 p.m. Paramedics and bystanders attempted life-saving measures, but the motorcyclist, identified as a resident of Lake of Bays, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the passenger vehicle involved in the collision did not sustain any injuries.

Following the investigation and clean-up, Muskoka Road 169 was reopened after several hours. The driver of the passenger vehicle has been charged with dangerous operation causing death. They are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Sunday for a bail hearing.

Authorities are appealing to the public for any information or footage related to the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or captured relevant video from the area at the time is asked to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
