Motorcyclist killed in Salaspils parish

A man riding a BMW motorcycle died after losing control and crashing into a roadside safety barrier in Salaspils parish, police told Delfi.

The crash occurred at about 11:16 on September 5 on a road linking the A6 and A4 highways. The motorcyclist died at the scene.

State Police said they were continuing to establish the circumstances of the accident. Across Latvia, authorities recorded 98 road crashes during the previous 24 hours. Twelve people were injured and one person died.

Police also issued 358 administrative violation decisions, including 140 for speeding and one for aggressive driving. Authorities began two administrative cases and five criminal proceedings involving suspected driving under the influence of alcohol.
