Motorcyclists Arrested After Police Chase and Crash in Buenos Aires

A high-speed chase ensued on General Paz Avenue, extending into Villa Madero in Buenos Aires province, culminating in the arrest of two motorcyclists who had initially evaded a police checkpoint. The incident began when police detected a Bajaj Rouser motorcycle traveling without helmets, prompting officers to signal for the riders to stop.

Instead of complying, the motorcycle's driver accelerated, initiating a pursuit coordinated by the Digital Ring Division and involving mobile police units. The chase lasted several minutes before the suspects attempted to evade police blockades, ultimately colliding with a patrol car. They struck the front bumper and then the driver's door of the police vehicle before being apprehended.

Upon identification, police discovered both suspects resided in Lomas de Zamora. Notably, the 17-year-old passenger had a significant criminal record, with four prior charges for robberies committed in Buenos Aires between 2023 and 2025. During the inspection of the motorcycle, officers noted irregularities, including the absence of an ignition key and a damaged ignition cylinder, suggesting potential illicit origins.

The case has been handed over to the National Criminal and Correctional Court for Minors No. 7. Judge Gonzalo Oliver de Tezanos ordered the detention of both suspects and initiated proceedings for concealing auto theft. Further forensic analysis of the motorcycle is underway to determine its provenance and check for any outstanding warrants or registration irregularities. The 17-year-old was taken to the Inchausti Institute, while the older suspect remains in judicial custody.
