Mountain rescuers in Julian Alps respond twice, airlifting individuals to safety

Mountain rescue teams in Slovenia's Julian Alps were called into action twice on Saturday, successfully airlifting individuals to safety in both instances. The operations, conducted by the Kranj Gora Mountain Rescue Service (GRS) and the Brnik duty GRS team, involved the use of a Slovenian Army helicopter.

In the evening, rescuers located and extracted an exhausted individual from the wall of Kriška stena, a challenging area situated between Vrata Valley and the Kriški podi high-mountain plateau, near the peaks of Križ, Stenar, and Pihavec. The person, who required assistance, was airlifted to the valley unharmed.

Later that evening, around 8 p.m., a separate operation was launched for two alpinists who had become disoriented and strayed from their route in the Rakova špica wall. This area is located between Dolkova Špica and Škrlatica. The two alpinists were also rescued by helicopter and brought to the Lesce sports airport, reportedly without injuries.

In a related incident, GRS Tržič reported assisting a female hiker who was struck in the head by a falling rock while descending. Rescuers provided aid and airlifted her to safety via helicopter. All individuals involved in these rescue operations were reported to be unharmed.
