MPR Leaders Meet President Prabowo, Invite Him to Annual Session

Leaders of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, August 3. The primary purpose of their visit was to formally invite the president to attend the MPR's Annual Session.

The Annual Session is a key event in the commemoration of Indonesia's 81st Independence Day, scheduled to take place on August 14, 2026. During this session, President Prabowo is expected to deliver a state address to the assembly. This tradition marks a significant moment for the nation's leadership to address the country.

Some state institutions and today our visit is to invite the President to the MPR's Annual Session which is planned to be held on Friday, August 14.

Beyond inviting President Prabowo, the MPR leadership also extended invitations to former presidents and vice presidents, as well as the chairpersons of various political parties. This inclusive approach aims to bring together key national figures for the important occasion.

Following the Annual Session, the commemoration will continue with a national pilgrimage and solemn remembrance at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery on August 15. The main Independence Day ceremony, marking the proclamation of independence, will be held on August 17, 2026, at the Merdeka Palace, with President Prabowo serving as the inspector of the ceremony.
