MRT Xidong Line construction reaches 31% completion, targets 2032 opening

Construction on the MRT Xidong Line in New Taipei City is advancing, with the main structure now 31.23% complete. Mayor Hou Yu-ih visited a construction site on June 20 to review progress, highlighting the project's commitment to a 2032 completion target.

The MRT Xidong Line is moving towards its goal of completion in 2032.

The project spans 5.56 kilometers, with 4.75 kilometers within New Taipei City and 0.81 kilometers in Taipei City. It will feature six elevated stations and one depot. The main construction began on March 20, 2025. Currently, the Tongxing Road site has finished 118 foundation piles and two pier columns.

Other construction areas are also moving forward. The Datong Road site will begin sidewalk reduction and fencing in August, while the Xinwu Road site will start foundation pile construction in September after completing its tail track fencing. Geological surveys for the Shehou depot are underway, with fencing expected by year-end. Taipei City sections will see site preparation and fencing begin in August and September, respectively.
