MTN Ghana Marks 30 Years with Focus on Digital Inclusion and Major Investment

MTN Ghana is marking three decades of operations with a renewed focus on driving digital inclusion, fostering economic growth, and supporting community development. The company reiterated its commitment at a recent Stakeholder Forum in Kumasi, held as part of its 30th-anniversary celebrations themed ‘30 Years of Progress, Powered by You.’

Angela Mensah-Poku, Chief Enterprise Officer at MTN Ghana, expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their enduring support. She highlighted that the company's 30-year journey has been built on the trust and loyalty of customers, communities, and partners. As MTN Ghana celebrates this milestone, it remains dedicated to building a robust digital platform that connects people, empowers businesses, and contributes significantly to Ghana's socio-economic progress.

Mensah-Poku emphasized MTN's substantial contribution to the national economy, noting that the company accounts for approximately six percent of Ghana's total tax revenue. To further support the digital economy's growth, MTN plans to invest US$1.1 billion over the next three years. This includes a significant allocation of around US$380 million in 2026, aimed at expanding network capacity, improving service quality, and strengthening infrastructure resilience to meet escalating customer demand.

Beyond its commercial objectives, MTN Ghana also detailed its sustainability commitments. The company aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 and is actively working to reduce its carbon footprint through the adoption of cleaner, more energy-efficient technologies. As a gesture of environmental responsibility, MTN distributed solar bulbs to attendees at the forum. The event facilitated dialogue between MTN leadership and representatives from key institutions, including regulatory bodies and media associations, covering critical topics like network investment, customer experience, and digital transformation in Ghana.
