Muharrem İnce reacts to 'funeral photo' controversy

Muharrem İnce has strongly condemned the political interpretations drawn from a photograph taken at the funeral of Olcay Baykal, the late wife of former Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Deniz Baykal. The image, which showed İnce standing next to current CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, sparked social media commentary regarding political alignments within the party.

İnce took to social media to denounce these analyses as immoral, stating, "Taking a political analysis from a snapshot photo is immoral! At a funeral, one stands in line; you don't look at who is to your right or left. Believers who gather to perform their final duty to the deceased offer their prayers and disperse." He questioned the sanity and morality of those who engage in such political interpretations during a solemn occasion.

He further argued that the focus during a funeral prayer should be on honoring the deceased and offering prayers, not on scrutinizing the proximity of political figures. İnce characterized those making such analyses as ignorant, questioning whether there is a protocol dictating who should stand next to whom during a funeral prayer. The incident highlights ongoing political tensions and the intense scrutiny of party figures, even during moments of mourning.
