Musician: What's behind Helge Schneider's near-concert cancellation

Musician Helge Schneider briefly interrupted his concert at the Landesgartenschau in Ellwangen, Germany, due to significant technical difficulties with the sound system. The interruption occurred after approximately 20 minutes of the performance.

Stefan Powolny, managing director of the Landesgartenschau, explained that the issue stemmed from the connection between the venue's equipment and Schneider's own sound setup. While the soundcheck had gone smoothly, the volume during the actual performance was insufficient for the crowd of several thousand.

"We quickly realized that we couldn't compete with 7,000 people in a festive mood; Helge Schneider's art is not made for that," Powolny told the Schwäbische Zeitung. He elaborated that the venue's system only received Schneider's mix on one channel, and simply increasing the volume would have caused feedback issues. A quick fix was not possible, as it would have required extensive rewiring by Schneider and his band.
